MINES MASTERS: https://birdeasepro.com/MinesMasters2018

On Saturday, April 7, 2018 supporters of the SD Mines Hardrockers will gather at Desert Mountain Golf Club (Geronimo Course) in Scottsdale, Arizona for a day of fun on the golf course!  We will play in a four-person scramble format with a shotgun start at 12:00 noon.

Dinner that evening will occur at 5:30pm at “The Hideout” at the Desert Mountain Renegade Course and will feature a Mexican Buffet.  The Hideout is about a 5-minute drive from the Geronimo Course.  Participants will be lead from the Geronimo Course to The Hideout after golf concludes.  A map will also be provided for easy reference of the Desert Mountain property.

Everything you have been searching for is at Desert Mountain, situated on 8,000 acres in the high Sonoran Desert. Tucked into the rolling hills and dramatic scenery of north Scottsdale, Arizona, Desert Mountain is among the finest private golf and recreational communities in the world and is consistently ranked among the top private clubs in the nation. It is the only private community worldwide with six Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Courses, each one designed to offer an individual playing experience at all skill levels. A wide variety of amenities, activities and events for everyone makes the Desert Mountain lifestyle like no other.

Described by Jack Nicklaus as “the strong looking course,” Geronimo is perhaps the most visually intimidating of Desert Mountain’s six courses. It winds its way through dramatic boulders, deep washes, ravines and lush desert and over stunning plateaus.

The drama of Geronimo is evident from the first hole, a stunning 570-yard par five with a large elevation drop to a broad fairway. The hole requires a well-struck second shot to set up the proper position to attack this shallow, well-bunkered green. While some of the front nine holes might deceptively lead you to believe it is a gentle course, the back nine will surely change that impression. The last hole is a 160-yard, par 3 that requires an exacting shot over a canyon to a two-tiered green between sand bunkers. For every carry over a deep ravine, designer Nicklaus provides a safe route for those less daring shot makers.

This annual golf tournament benefits the Athletics Department at the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology.  By playing in this event, you are supporting scholarships for scholar-athletes.  We appreciate your support of the Hardrockers!

The Hardrock Club continues to strive to raise funds to support athletic scholarships for our scholar-athletes in all 13 of our varsity sports. Our number one goal at SD Mines continues to be graduating leaders in science and engineering. Being a member of the NCAA and RMAC has great advantages and positions us in a group of peer institutions that appreciate the rigors of academic achievement as well as athletic success. This affiliation also comes with challenges. The average NCAA Division 2 athlete dedicates 85 hours per week to academics, athletics and community service.  Please support our scholar-athletes by participating in a golf tournament this spring which directly benefits the Hardrocker Scholarship Fund.
